MAD RIVER:   www.madriverglen.com  Remember Early Season Pass Rate & Free Kids Pass Program Deadline is October 15th.   Buy early and save some green.  Mad River has many fall events planned; it is a great time to visit the mountain.  September 26th is this year’s Septemberfest at MRG from 11 - 5, featuring some of Vermont’s Premier Breweries, as well as Mad Rivers delectable barbeque and live music.  The cost for beer tasting is $20, which includes a souvenir class and 10 sample tokens.  The General Stark Pub will be open and the single chair will be running for fall foliage rides ($10 adults, $5 for children).  September 27, is a Mountain Work Day, work at the mountain for a day and earn a ticket voucher to use in season.  Go to www.treeskier.com/mrg/index.html for more info.  October 3rd and 4th is Green and Gold Weekend.  Single Chair will be running for Fall Foliage Rides $10 adult and $5 for Children.    Check out the website for more info.


MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE:  The NJWS are currently looking to bring in some new members!  Please help our cause and consider recruiting a friend.  The committee is planning to hold an Open House at the lodge on Green and Gold Weekend, and is hoping for a few volunteers.

WORK WEEKEND:  The fall session is scheduled for September 19 & 20. Handy with power tools, a paintbrush or just looking for some back breaking labor?  Possess really great organizational or cleaning skills?  Looking to earn a housing credit at the Lodge?  Spend the weekend working at the Lodge, it could really use your help!!!  Contact Ron Snider at rsnider@optonline.net  
 
SKI COUNCIL INFO:  The NJ Ski Council’s Trip to Steamboat is scheduled for February 20 - 27th.  The cost runs between $1335 - $1795 per person with double occupancy, and $2390 for a single.  Sign up ASAP, the trip fills very quickly.  First Payment is Due Sept. 30th.   For more information and to download a reservation form go to the ski council’s website  www.newjerseyskicouncil.org.  The trip coordinator is Dennis Young 201-487-0485 or dapyoung95@verizon.net.  Our Ski Council Rep is Phil Lee.

FUNDRAISING:  The New Entertainment Books are now available.  If we sell more than 30 the club makes a bigger profit!   They make great gifts.  Contact Larry McDonough at LMCDRealty@aol.com   They can also be purchased at the meetings. 
The Club is also looking to raise money th rough Models Sporting Goods.  The exact dates of the event have not been finalized, but the club will earn cash back from Models for purchases made between certain dates, by our members, friends and family.  So hold off on that Holiday shopping, more details will follow.
 
IN TOUCH:  Keep in touch with your fellow members!  Always know what is going on.  The Club has a yahoo group, that will send you reminders and other info.  Go to Yahoo.com search for NJWS in groups and join.  Also, Joe Faranetta has set up a Facebook site.  It’s a bit more interactive than what we can do with the Yahoo site AND MRG has also embraced facebook. Please check it out, post some comments, and even add some photos to help us attract some members. There are several past members (or kids of past members) who are already active.

THE LODGE:  A reminder to leave the lodge at least in the condition you found it, other members may arrive before the cleaning service.  The number at the lodge is 802-496-8894.

Place: Lene Lenape Picnic Area – Knoll Park Parsippany, NJ

Cost: $15 per adult - Kids are Free

We will have beer, soda, corn, clams and chowder.  There will be grills available.  Bring your own burgers, chicken, etc. 
There is a playground, horseshoe pit and bocce ball court next to the covered pavilion.
 
Directions:
From 287 South:  Exit 45 Myrtle Ave.  Left at end of ramp.  Left at first traffic light onto Vreeland Ave.  Down hill approximately ¾ mile to s harp left curve.  Bear right onto Greenbank Road.  Go over bridge and turn left onto Knoll Country club.  Follow signs for Knoll East.  Picnic Area is on the right.
 
From 287 North:  Exit 45 Wooton Ave.  Straight through stop sign.  At end, turn right onto Vreeland Ave.  Proceed as above.

From Rt 46 East or West:  Take North Beverwyck Road to end (thru 3 traffic lights).  Turn left at blinker on Knoll Road.  Turn right into Knoll Country Club.  Picnic area is on left past Knoll East Clubhouse.
