FROM THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE: The Exec Board has approved renting the lodge to the University of Rhode Island Ski Team from the evening of Sunday January 1st through Friday January 6th. As many of you are aware we have done this for the last several years. Regardless of weather we receive $2500 in income for the 5 nights.
FALL HIKE: Next Hike is Sunday November 20th 12:30 – 3:30. New Loop Trail at Silas Condict County Park. This trail passes through newly acquired property at Silas Condict, and is good for hikers of any ability. Although the trail contains rugged terrain and numerous ups and downs, most of them are short. There is an elevation gain of about 1,000 feet, not all at once, and the views and dramatic rock formations are worth the effort. Wildlife is reported to be plentiful. I've done this trail twice, and can't wait to see it in it's fall colors.
Directions:
Follow N.J. Route 208 to I-287 South and take Exit 52B of I-287 (N.J. Route 23 North). Follow Route 23 north for 2.6 miles and take the exit for Kinnelon Road/Kiel Road. Turn left at the traffic light, following the sign for “Kinnelon,” cross Route 23, and continue for 1.1 miles to the entrance to Sila s Condict County Park, on the right. Turn right and follow William Lewis Arthur Drive (the park entrance road) for 0.7 mile, passing two parking areas. With the lake and a stone building (known as the Casino) visible on the left, park in the third parking area along the road.
